The game was eventually picked up by Nintendo with the help a new friend of Tajiri, Shigeru Miyamoto, and was initially launched in Japan as Pocket Monsters in 1996. Since then, the phenomenon now known as Pokemon has skyrocketed worldwide, drawing for children and adults alike.
The premise of the series is similar to children catching fireflies in a bottle, but the fireflies are instead little monsters and teach them to fight each other in competitions. Trade Pokémon with other players of the series is to foster and one of the most enjoyable aspects of the game fighting alongside his friends and crew alike. Test your skills as a coach and as a clean sport is one of the main attractions of the series.
The series has been a number of different titles in it for the Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Nintendo 64, Game Boy Advance, GameCube and Nintendo DS. Most games have a suffix of a color, precious metals or precious gems, such as red, green, blue and yellow for the Game Boy.
Later, Gold, Silver and Crystal were developed for the Game Boy Color.
The third generation of games have come in the form of ruby, sapphire. These games introduced a number of new features, including more weather precise, the new villains of Team Magma and Team Aqua, contests, and new abilities of each pokemon. Also introduced the concept of nature for everyone. Shortly thereafter, Emerald was released, which introduced the possibility of rebattle gym leaders, events for all the pokemon (like in Crystal).
Then the first two games in the first generation, red and green, are remade as FireRed and LeafGreen for Game Boy Advance. The main features are enhanced graphics, gameplay, and a new area called Sevii Islands.
The fourth generation of games consists of Diamond and Pearl, which have already been the subject of a worldwide release in 2007. One of the notable additions to both of these games is the difference between the genders Pokemon.
Although games with the same name Pokemon are all Nintendo systems, the classics will always be on the Game Boy, Game Boy Color and Game Boy Advance.
